Employees as brand ambassadors: the new face of employer branding

In today’s world, employees are playing a much larger role in shaping employer brands. Technology has completely transformed how businesses approach branding, and employees are now at the forefront of that change.

Here’s an eye-opening stat: an employee’s social media post gets 561% more engagement than the same message shared by the company. On top of that, employees have ten times more followers than their employers on social media. Companies that recognize this are turning their employees into brand ambassadors, which boosts both productivity and company image.

We’re also seeing a growing trend where job seekers heavily rely on employee reviews—41% of them consider these reviews more important than any other source when deciding where to apply, according to a 2017 study. This is why employee branding has become such a key focus for organizations today.

So, how do you build a top-notch employee branding initiative? Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Educate your employees about your company’s values. They can’t share the brand story if they don’t know it! Offering brand training is a great way to get everyone on the same page.

Hire the right people. Building brand ambassadors starts with recruiting employees who truly fit your company’s culture. Misfit hires won’t resonate with your brand and will struggle to promote it.

Engage your employees. You can’t market a company culture that doesn’t actually exist. If your workplace isn’t a great place to be, your branding efforts will fall flat, and your turnover rates could soar.

For a successful employee branding campaign, make sure you set clear goals, communicate openly with your team, and take your time. Rushing into it without proper planning won’t get you the results you’re looking for. Instead, focus on creating a solid foundation where your employees feel proud to represent your brand!
